About the Centerhouse

Where will the new Centerhouse be and why was this location chosen?

The new hub is “up the asphalt,” between the Honey Hut and the new parking lot, at the head of the trail leading to the Challenge Course. The spot was chosen in partnership with Whatcom County, factoring in watershed requirements, is a central locale for future growth, and will take some pressure off of “lower camp” and disperse camper traffic through a wider area.

How big will it be?

  • Main Floor: 7,978 square feet plus 2,150 square feet of deck
  • Daylight Basement: 3,850 square feet of storage (multiple usage potential)
  • Allows for 448 diners with and an additional 78 on the deck for overflow (all round tables)

What are some of the key features?

  • Unique roll-up doors to provide full access to a wraparound deck for additional seating as needed
  • A central kitchen and dining location that can make possible the expansion of food service to remote sites (i.e. South Cove, Challenge Course)
  • Direct access to kitchen and storage for delivery trucks and vendors
  • Open, airy design; simple construction to minimize costs; and polished concrete floors to ease maintenance and allow the facility to withstand the rigors of student ministries
