Framing Update
Monday, September 14th, 2009
Check out these pictures of the framing progress on the Centerhouse. The crew has been working hard at the side walls as well as the front wall. This past week has brought the arrival of the SIP panels [which stands for Structural Insulated Panels] to the Fill Site. The 4′ x 20′ panels will make up the roof structure of the building. This upcoming week, the crew will be bringing in the exterior posts for the building. The arrival of these posts will start the deck construction. The posts will also provide support for the trusses which are scheduled to arrive Monday the 21st.

Progress Update #10
Thursday, August 20th, 2009
The crew has been hard at work setting beams and framing walls. On Wednesday, they will be bringing in a crane to set the rest of the beams for the floor. Doug Walker and crew have been working on nailing 425 joist hangers in preparation for the beams. The building is starting to take shape with the continued framing of the basement exterior walls.
This is the last week of camp for the summer at Firwood and will mark the last time that campers use the Longhouse for meals [Guest Groups in the fall will continue to use the facility]. Share a favorite memory of the Longhouse on Facebook.

The crew has started the framing stage of the Centerhouse. They have started with one of the side walls in the basement as well as the glue-lams in the upper section. The support beams require nailing in lots of joist hangers which Doug Walker and his two assistants, Robb Watson and Landon Block, were helping to secure today. Progress continues on the foundation for the Centerhouse. The walls have been poured along with the concrete slab in the basement. The crew, along side the help of some volunteers, is working on putting up a waterproof membrane and back filling the foundation. They are also working on digging out for the footing for the wall that will go behind the kitchen. Early August should bring the start of framing.
